Mindfulness Training on Campus

The Center for Mindfulness and Compassion at TCNJ

Fall of 2021

This semester the Center will focus on specific awareness skills that improve attention, focus and self-management and can be practiced in many “mindful moments” throughout the day

Programs for Students (All in Person at the Spiritual Center):

  • Improving Productivity and Increasing Happiness Workshop

            During this one-hour experiential workshop you will learn how to partner with your mind and body to function better in your life.  The core elements, history and science of mindfulness     will be explored. You will experiment with different mindful moment activities.

Session A: Tuesday, September 14th from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Session B:  Wednesday, September 15th from 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM

Session C:  Wednesday, September 15th from 2 PM to 3 PM

  • Unwinding Anxiety with Mindfulness Based Habit Change[1] Series:

Many of us walk around without awareness of how our habitual thought patterns and behaviors are creating anxiety and undermining our productivity and happiness.  During this            three-week program you will learn how your brain works in and how to work with it.

Week One:  Mapping Your Brain

Week Two:  Hacking the Reward System

Week Three:  Bigger Better Offers

Session A:  Tuesdays, September 21st, 28th and October 5th from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM

Session B: Wednesdays, September 22nd, 29th and October 6th from 12:30 to 1:30 PM

Session C:  Wednesdays, September 22nd, 29th and October 6th from 2 to 3 PM

Programs For Campus Community:

  • 30 Minute Drop-In Guided Mindfulness Sessions in Spiritual Center:

Wednesdays at 11:30 AM         

            Sessions include a short period of mindful movement, a meditation and time for Q & A.

 

Programs For Faculty and Staff:

  • Mindfulness Tools for the Classroom: A One Hour Workshop 

Ways to Improve Attention, Focus, and Self-Management  

During this experiential workshop, the definition, history and science of mindfulness will be explored. A framework for bringing mindful moments into your classroom will be presented along with specific brief activities to promote ongoing engagement and alertness.

Session A: Monday, August 30th from 4 to 5 PM in person at Spiritual Center

Session B: Friday, September 10th from noon to 1 PM Online via Zoom

  • Workshops: Lead workshops for your group such as Improving Productivity and Increasing Happiness or Unwinding Anxiety.
  • Fourth Hour Program: Develop and lead 4th Hour program tailored to your curriculum or specific group needs.
